Bidding for ASCYPAA

If you wish to host an ASCYPAA in your area, the following are the Bidding Requirements to be presented to the Advisory Council by the prospective bidding committee. *Please write if you have any questions.

Bidding Requirements

1. Three A.A. members with a minimum of one year’s sobriety must represent the bidding city. It is suggested that the composition of each Bid Committee be formed from A.A. members from the geographical area of that Bid Committee’s proposed Conference site.

2. Bidders must have commitments from at least two appropriate facilities (hotels, universities, convention centers, gymnasiums, etc.) so sized as to accommodate the entire conference. Please include proposed dates for the conference and a showing of available meeting space. The cost of the facility must be included. Bidders must provide information regarding housing for attendees, including cost and accessibility to the proposed conference site. If awarded the conference, the host committee agrees to have a signed contract within 45 days.

3. Bidders must provide a permanent mailing address for their committee.

4. Assurance must be given that no large scale A.A. activity will be held in their city within a thirty-day period before and a thirty-day period after the conference date.

5. Statements of interest or support from the local District and Intergroup must be presented at the bidding session.

6. Bid committees should be able to demonstrate financial autonomy and responsibility, within the spirit of the Twelve Traditions of A.A.

7. The new host city must agree that all proceeds after expenses are to be turned over to the ASCYPAA Advisory Council for disposition.

8. There will be a maximum of 20 minutes for the presentation by each bidding city.

9. Please draft a statement illustrating the reasons why you wish to host an ASCYPAA in your area. The following is a suggestion by the Advisory Council, to be considered by the Bidding Committee. Experience has shown that long holiday weekends are good times for Young People’s Conferences, allowing extra time for the conference.
